This last week of February -11 weeks before the last average frost date in our area - our farming season begins. Our seed starting station in the front hall is in its place (hopefully the last time we'll have to use it since we'll be putting up our greenhouse this spring). Our cold frame is now a hot frame, full of hot manure and compost to keep seedlings warm at night. And today we started the onion family - red onions, yellow onions, leeks, shallots and scallions.
